Islington Gardeners is a group of committed gardeners whose purpose is to protect and enhance the green spaces in the Borough and to organise an annual programme of garden-related activities for the membership.

We have around 300 members who are interested in all aspects of gardens and gardening, including indoor plants, window boxes, balconies, patios, roof gardens and communal gardens. You can be green or green fingered, and you don’t even have to have a garden or live in Islington to join! We also encourage a Forgotten Corners project, whereby a group of members adopt an area of public land near their homes and take over its maintenance, transforming it into a beautiful space for the benefit of all who pass by. Islington Council’s Greenspace are very supportive.
We have affiliated membership of the Royal Horticultural Society, the London Parks and Gardens Trust, the London Gardens Society, and the National Council for the Care of Plants and Gardens (NCCPG).
We organise several coach trips annually to beautiful gardens within convenient reach of London; members are welcome to bring a non-member friend on the coach trips, subject to seat availability. We also organise some trips by bus or train to gardens in and around London during the year.
IG has a wild sister grouping, the Islington Wildlife Gardeners’ Group. See the Wildlife page for more details.
